Watermark decals (48002)
2011
Once in a while my local model club decided to encourage members to finish a model with a simple group build. Every modeller would receive the same kit (at a discounted)
price and had a couple months to finish it. The deadline would be the annual model contest. If you finished your model - great. If not - you were expected to pony up $25 for
the kit. I finished mine but with my track record of half-built models, I opted for a simple out of the box build.
Since it was out of the box, I couldn't add anything beyond what I had already experienced building the Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Vc Trop
or their Spitfire Mk.I.
markings came from a Watermark decal sheet for Canadian Spitfires I had laying around. I simply chose the Mk.V with the eye-catching 'girlie' nose art. Overall, I found the decals
not very responsive to setting solutions, but they were still better than Tamiya's.
Weathering was limited to a little bit of Tamiya Smoke for the exhausts and along some of the panel lines in my first attempt at post-shading.
Overall I enjoyed building another Tamiya Spitfire. It wasn’t complicated, nor did it means stressful construction, alignment and filling issues.
